.....let them eat quiche!

Greetings all!
218.5lbs. (would you believe me if I said I was in armor when I weighed myself????

I have some news today, both good and bad (kinda but not really). What do you want to hear first, the good or the bad? Okay, the good it is then....I wrote a math test in Kitchen Management today and got a mark of 14 out of 17 (about 82%) and I was the only one in the class who got the bonus question (which looked and sounded like a math word problem, but was actually a food question!!! My favorite!!) I also wrote another test in Food Theory, but we won't have the marks for that till next week, but I think I did well.... The not so bad news is that I ended up turning down the job at Bistro One......they wanted me to work Tues-Sat from 6pm to whenever (11pm to 1:30am), and we just couldn't make it work with Paul's work schedule among other reasons. It was an enormously tough decision and I was really broken up having to make it, but I feel good about it today and I have my job with Louise and that works with our lives much better right now!

Oh yeah,,, the quiche bit....well, we made quiche in class today and I am having some right now for supper.

With regards to diet and exercise ....I will be flexing my "won't" muscles as of right now, since my weight has been steadily creeping upwards, my jeans are getting tight, and I am tired and sore all the time (more than is ususal) and being fat is getting in the way of my achiving my goals.

I WON'T MISS MY MATT FUREY EVEN IF EVERY FIBER IN MY BEING IS SCREAMING NOOOOOOO!!!!!

a painful adjustment......and some good news....

still not speaking to my scale.......


I told Dr. S that my hand/arm situation was getting serious and was there anything more he could do....so he did a very thorough check and found that my T-1 vertebrae was very much out of whack and the adjustment was enough to bring tears to my eyes; however, I do feel somewhat better, so I should be back to normal workout and pell work by Monday. Now for the good news......last night when I got home James told me that the executive chef from Bistro One (a very, very high class restaurant) had called me and wanted me to call him no matter what time I got in....so at midnight I called him at the restaurant and he said that the other fellow that they hired (instead of me last time) didn't work out at all and that the owner wanted to meet with me to see about giving me a chance at the job. So after work at Dr. S's I got changed and went for the interview at 1:30pm. It lasted about 15 minutes or so, and at the end ......HE OFFERED ME THE JOB!!!!!!!!
So my job is 3rd cook, to give an idea what that is .....the executive chef is 1st cook ....so I am the person who does vegetables and some appetizers. Once I learn that job well, they will teach me some of the 2nd cook duties and so on till I can work anywhere on the line. WOW!!! I am soooo pumped!!!! I should still be able to work for Louise at Sunflower Catering at least once a week....maybe more before the holidays.

same day.....more tired

I am NOT weighing myself today.....I am on "day 2" and my jeans don't fit.....so too bad!

I walked alot yesterday, my right hand is still semi numb all the time and if I try to do anything too much (like eat, sew, fight, cook) it goes completely numb.....seeing Dr. S. tommorrow.....

Today my right arm is really sore and going numb at the drop of a hat....(made work lots of fun!) Therefore I decided I needed to rest it and give it some tender loving care. I did not do pell or Matt Furey today.


Our phone (and thus our Internet service) was temporarily disconnected yesterday, so I could not report on my pell work last night.

I did:

12,12,12R (with gauntlets and shield)
12,12,12L (with gauntlets)
Offside:
10,10,10 (with shield and gauntlets)

I got your comment Soly about easing up a bit to give my arm time to heal....I think I may take your advice and practice with a boffer in my right hand and my regular stick in my left, at least for a while.....I think I am going to look into acupuncture again, as it really helped last time it was this bad....

a groggy good morning to all.....

Did Royal Court (30hindu squats, 3hindu pushups, 1table (held for 10 sec) and back bridges on the ball)
Did 60 torso twists, and 7 sidebends (each side with 10 stretches per bend)

I printed up a food diary last night. I am going to record all that I eat and drink for the next week just to see in black and white the good, the bad and the ugly with regards to my eating habits.

Time for me to go shower and get ready for school....have a great day!

a good day all around.....

....except maybe my weight.....220lbs.....time to start that eating plan that I talked about....eh?

I did Matt Furey this morning:
Royal Court (20squats, 1pushup, 1table and bridges on the ball)***hand is still going numb...so I did as much as I could***
60 torso twists, 5 sidebends

I did my pell work this evening
12,12,12R (onside, with gauntlets and shield)
12,12,12L (with gauntlets)
10,10,10R (offside with gauntlets and shield)

I had a good day at school, I felt fairly well rested from the weekend and we were working with all kinds of meat today in our food lab.....I stuffed a pork tenderloin with apples stuffing, we made sausage, we stuffed chicken breasts and grilled steak.......mmmmmm meat fest!

Worked tonight on James' Halloween costume....he is going to be a Ninja. I am also working on a new blue linen underdress. I have been tossing around some ideas for an A&S submission for Boar's Head as well....

Time to go sew !

October 23rd revision

I did my Matt Furey and my pell work on Sat. , just didn't get it recorded.

Sunday however, I did little else but sleep and rest......I really needed it! My right hand and arm are still acting up alot...going numb and all....so I am going to book another massage, keep up with the hot packs and vit B-6, and chiro adjustments and hope it heals soon!

stupid scale.......

219lbs (I think that dratted scale is plotting against me.....)

My hands and ankles were very sore and swollen this morning, so I have not done my exercising yet. Got an adjustment from Dr. S., I feel somewhat better now. He told me to take supplemental Vit B6 to help reduce the swelling, so I am doing that. I will be doing my pell and Matt Furey this afternoon after my nap!

I have a rough idea about what I want to do for diet. It involves 3 meals and 2 snacks daily, measuring my portions (until I have an idea what a "normal" portion looks like), drinking lots of water (8-10 cups a day), eating whole grains, like brown rice (avoiding excessive bread and pasta), lean high quality protien (both animal and vegetable), lots of fresh vegis and fruit and moderate use of healthy fats like olive oil. I would keep sampling at school to a minimum as well as avoiding cafeteria food (and all deep fried, junky and fast food), I will also limit my coffee consumption to 1 large Tim Hortons coffee per school day. I will also continue taking all my vitamins.

I am trying to make this doable. I am soooo busy and tired that if I feel the least bit deprived it just won't work for me. I know myself that well....So I am leaving myself some small endulgences , and that I believe is the key to success with this. More on this tonight or tommorrow.

Well another day done, and I am tired! We made eggs today, garden fritatta (a kind of open faced omelette finished in the oven), fruit souffle`, spinach souffle`, pancakes, french toast, and shirred eggs.....holy cholesterol batman!!! Anyways, I have school tommorrow (some math tutoring etc....), then I work.....

My sweetie just got home, so I am going to make him dinner....more eggs!!!!!!

I'll be posting tommorrow!
