my weekend....

my weekend....

Well lets see..... the demo went well, at least from the perspective of those who didn't know what was **supposed** to happen, from our end....? Well the word "gongshow" does come to mind.....Melinda really tried.....but noone could hear the lines as they were said, and really the only reactions from the audience that we got were to the fighting and the dancing (both very positive). With regards to the fighting....it went relatively well, I had a really long and hot sauna in the early afternoon and that seemed to help reduce the coughing fits a bit, When it came time for me to fight, I just looked Griffon in the eyes and let out a bloodcurdling roar(at least **I'd** like to think it was bloodcurdling!), and ran right at him, he ran right at me....our shields impacted (with much noise and cheering from our respective sections) we fought for a good long time, we tied up each other's weapons and shields and headbutted each other, I got in a couple of stout face and body thrusts on him, he got me across my sword arm (upper) (nice bruise!) But the crowd loved it, the students fed us well and we had a round or two of drinks and then I went home to my sweetie!

Yesterday, James and I went out with Trystan and Venice, and then we picked up Paul at work and we went there for supper. Came home fairly early, watched the Acadamy Awards (no choice, only one channel!) Then went to bed, my cough is still there, although it seems to be getting better.

Today we had our Practical exam for my Apprenticship class....this means at 8am this morning, I was handed a brown paper bag with 3 ingredients, and had from 8:30am to 11:30am to make a dish with them....(I was also able to use any other ingredient in the kitchen) there had to be a meat, a starch and 2 vegis. I received a pork tenderloin, a head of garlic and a big piece of fresh ginger root. The tenderloin, I marinated in soy, sesame oil, maple syrup, red chiles, garlic and ginger for about 2 hours, then I took it out of the marinade, dried it off and rubbed it with straight maple syrup, soy sauce and sesame oil and rolled it in toasted seseme seeds. I browned it in hot oil, then roasted it till just the slightest hint of pink juciness remained. I cooked basmati rice in coconut milk that had been steeped with star anise, cloves, cardamom and coriander seed. Then I stir fried the rice with candied ginger and chopped flat leaf parsley. For vegetables I made a marinated vegetable salad, from asparagus tips, julliened carrots and cucumber, red onion and a hint of red chile. The dressing was lime juice, sugar, garlic, ginger, red chile, lime zest , rice wine vinegar and a bit of vegetable oil. Bill, my instructor told the class that mine was the best!!!! Yay!

so not a bad day in all....I didn't even feel like killing Edwin, our Business management instructor...

I get to chat with Soly tonight!!!!! Yay! :0)
