exercise....what a concept!

Hi-dee-ho-dilly!

This is how my "day off" went: I got up at 6:30am, picked up Paul at work (a whole 4 blocks away)'cause I wanted to see him for a few minutes before I left. I went to the bar for 8am to help my friend Kathy clean...today was scrape gum off the carpet day....wheeeee! After that, (about 11am) I helped her with a bit of shopping, got home about 12:30, wolfed down a sandwich (had no breakfast) and went straight to Nana's place. My cousin Janine was visiting with her girls and Nana wanted me to take her to the bank and to the grocery store. I also went to the Royal Bank and got all my Mom's rings out of the safe deposit box, as my Dad has been behaving like a royal jerk these days and I am not going to risk him giving my Mom's jewellery away to some drunk tramp. Besides, he told me it was mine to do with as I wanted. I took the aquamarine/diamond ring in to the jewellers to be cleaned and sized, it needs to go up 2 sizes to fit me, so they are going to need to add some gold to it so it won't be too thin, the lady said it would cost about $40.00 or so. So anyways, I digress...my day continued at Nana's till about 3:30pm and then James and I went to the mall to Electronic's Boutique, so he could get the Spiderman 2 game for the X Box, and also to check out the new skateboard store in the mall, West 49 (Boy oh boy! if his wishlist wasn't long before, it is now!) Headed home, woke up Paul, made supper, drove Paul to work and then James and I went to Tim Hortons for a drink and a Strawberry Tart (Yum!) We went to the mall...again, looked around, stopped in at my work and then decided to go for a walk (ya knew I would get to the exercise stuff eventually....) We parked the car at McIntyre Mall and walked the path along the river to the College (almost) James took his scooter...it was fun! It was actually warm AND sunny today! (what a novel concept!) When we got home, I ran James a bath and sat down to write in my Blog, and here I am! Whew! I need a day off to recover from my "day off" !

Bye for now!

Just a quick note....

I had a pretty good day at work, lots of nice customers and good sales. Paul woke up late this afternoon, and he did the dishes and the laundry (yay sweetie! thanks!) :0) James went to visit his friend Liam, Paul went to work and I went and visited Nana and Auntie Jean. Had a good visit till about 8:30p and then came home and started to make a pot of chicken stew, which I am just finishing now (it is 12:15a or so).
I have to cool it off quick and put it in the freezer before I go to bed. I have to be at work for 8a tommorrow so I think I will have a bath while the stew is cooling then put it away and go straight to bed. Night for now!

Long Day

It has been a long day, some good, some bad, some definitly uuuuugly! Worked 9-5, did great, achived all my goals, made about $50 in commission, all in all a fairly good experience. Picked up James at daycare, wolfed down 2 hamburgers my sweetie made for me...(diet, what diet?) and was zoooom! back to the mall for a seminar on World class customer service. This was bad only in that it meant I was not at home....Now for the ugly, I stopped to check on my Dad's cat (and my Dad) on the way home, as he has been drinking again and sometimes goes out and forgets to feed her, well when I got there he had "company".....and it's not the fact that he had "company" that bothers me...it was who it was.....She was the person who used to live across from him (before he sold the house) and she used to always sponge money, booze and cigarettes off of him all the time. He invited me in, I refused and went down to visit my Nana, who lives in the same building, I maybe shouldn't have told her what I knew, cause I just got an angry call from my Dad saying I sent her up there, cause apparently she was breathing fire at him (**stifle a grin**) Nana is 85 years old, his mother in law and tough as nails and NOT afraid to speak her mind.....I can't imagine what she must have said....the last thing I said to her was "don't bother, wasting your breath on him Nana, it won't make him stop" and she stood there and smiled and hugged me and said, "don't worry, I won't" Well....what else can I say...I got snookered...she had NO intention of not saying anything...***sigh***

Well there is always the Serenity Prayer

Night for now

Blue Monday

Well, it is Monday yet again...(not sure why they haven't outlawed it yet...) and the sun is shining, and Bill (my cat) is sitting beside me :0). Why is Monday a bad thing then? It is a bad thing because very shortly I will have to leave my Billy cat, and the sunbeams and spend 8 hours inside a wretched shopping mall! Oh well, life goes on! I hope everyone had a great weekend! I dyed my hair this weekend...well to go back a week or two, I cut my hair really short, and I went and bought a box of dye, it was Feria brand and the colour was called bright black, well my hair is not quite black....noooo it is more what you'd call very dark, intense navy blue!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Arrrrgggggghhhhhhhhhhhhh! Everyone so far says it looks good, but still it is blue!!!! Well I will live with it for a week or so, before I decide whether to dye over it....gotta go for now! :0)

Somebody get me a boat....

It is still raining...*sigh*....slept in this morning, actually had my meal replacement for breakfast and my vitamins! (pat on the back...good Bou) Went to the SCA meeting for 1pm, on the way got an XL TH coffee. Not a great turnout at the meeting, so we talked a while and then went to the Hoito, I had scrambled eggs and bacon (no toast or homefries) and I had a coffee. Washed the dishes and did some laundry. We are going over to Dave and Melinda's to watch the movie Mambo Italiano in about a half an hour. I should take some of my vitamins now...still gotta organize that supplement cupboard. I gave my helm to Patin to weld a bar down the front grill so that my bars won't split apart again when I get a horizontal shot across the face. In return I am going to make him a small pot of stew to take to WW with him. Hope everyone's weekend is going well!

Okay, so the Farmers market is NOT a safe place to go when looking for non food

It is pouring rain AGAIN, and the forcast is that it will be the rest of the weekend, and then bright and sunny again on Monday, ah Mother Earth and her sense of humour....Well this diet thing is not as easy as it sounds....we went to the Farmers Market this morning, I had a pepperoni made with wild boar meat, a homemade cheese pretzel with dijon honey dipping sauce and a coffee with cream. We stopped at the fresh fruit stand and bought some nectarines and oranges as well. Wow, do my wrists ever hurt!, even as I type, my baby finger on my right hand won't really do as I am asking and when I stop typing it practically vibrates, uncontrolled by me....I don't think I will be fighting till I find out what the heck is causing that....

now it is thundering and lightning, so I had better shut down the computer...

Later..

Okay, tommorrow for sure......really......I mean it....

Well Friday is here, and I am glad. It means 2 days off, it also means some time with my sweetie, since tonight is his last night of work before 3 days off.

My food intake today was lame...2 slices of toast, one with butter, one with butter and jam, a large T.H coffee 3crm/1s, and then a protien shake at work, then another large T.H coffee at about 2pm, then a Burger King grilled chicken burger at about 5pm, then at 8pm, an A&W teen burger and a root beer float. Top that off with chips and dip at 10:30ish...I might as well have a beer to top it all off eh?

The bright side is that we did get groceries and they were all healthy food (except for Paul's root beer). James is on board saying he wants to eat more healthy too, so he and I are going to do it!

I think that part of the problem is that we base a lot of our entertainment on eating "out", so it is very hard to not think of food when thinking of doing something fun. Our challenge will be to find fun things to do that don't involve food and maybe in some way involve physical activity. Also with our budget about to get tighter in the fall when I go back to school, it will serve us well to be less dependent on expensive dinners out to give us the entertainment we need.

Fun things(for me and/or the family, or James and I) to do that DON'T involve food:
1. Take a bike ride around Boulevard Lake
2. Go for a nature walk at Centennial Park
3. Try to learn to rollerblade
4. Work on my pell
5. Go to the park and play frisbee, or tag or catch
6. Go to the library
7. rent a movie
8. sew, or embroider garb
9. borrow a dog and walk it
10.SCA fight practice
11.work on my armor
12.go swimming
13.go to the gym

well there are a few ideas...the trick will be to choose them instead of food, on a regular basis.

Well, wish us luck!

Diets that start on the 1st ALWAYS fail.....so I'll start on the 2nd

What I ate the rest of the day...a cheeseburger and fries and a coffee at the Hoito (a really great Finnish restaurant), water at the demo and then 2 and a half slices of pizza at my Dads while we watched the fireworks from his 6th floor balcony. That's all diet food right??? NOT!!! I did however get some exercise via the demo...of course in the first fight with Teronius, the front bars on my helm got spread dangerously open, so I thought I was done for the day, but I ended up borrowing Teronius's helm and fighting Khai (who was fighting two stick) It was mostly show fighting for non-scadians. Also, the guys as a whole (Patin, Khai and Teronius) bounced my gauntlets (I had the left one done and was going to wear it) They said it would be okay in a basket hilt, but not fighting polearm, as it was too flimsy. Oh well, I'll still finish them and use them for when I fight sword and board and get (or make ) some metal ones for fighting pole.

Well, I have to work at 9am tommorrow, so I'd better go to bed.

sweet dreams all :0)

Happy Canada Day!

Well, it is Canada Day, and everything is closed, so on the good side, I have a day off, on the bad side there is nothing to do, cause everything is closed....sigh...this means I probably should do chores (cue the scary music) Well, I have already done the dishes, wiped down the counters and swept the kitchen floor, I should repad my vambraces, cause our SCA group is doing a demo at the Canada Day celebrations at Marina Park (right on Lake Superior) and my forearm is still sore from almost 2 weeks ago (still bruised too) where I got hit across the vambrace. My wrists are still sore too, and I'd rather not fight, but so far we only have 2 fighters committed and it is a much better demo if we have at least 3...so I'll bring my garb too, just in case another fighter shows up.

I weighed myself yesterday, and the scale I used (at work) also measures body fat percentages, (again, cue the scary music...) I am 215lbs and 45.5% body fat **sob** So it being the 1st of the month, new beginnings and all that, I have chosen this day to start my new eating and exercise plan.

I am using the book Fat Wars, for nutritional guidance(www.fatwars.com), and will be getting back to the gym Mon to Sat doing cardio and resistance training.

I am going to try and keep a record of the food I consume daily as well...It hasn't gone so well today so far, as I need to get groceries....I have had 2 pieces of white toast, both with butter and one with saskatoon berry jam, 1 large Tim Hortons coffee with 3 cream and 1 sugar and a banana nut muffin....not exactly the breakfast of champions I know, I am going to take today to get my grocery list together and menu plans, so I am prepared....I will keep posting though...

Be well

Toenail-er-cize.......and other foolishness

Okay, exactly WHO'S bright idea was it that if we (as women) want to pamper ourselves, indulge ourselves, you know, put ourselves first and all that, should paint our toenails?????
I'll tell you who....the people who sell nail polish and the people who sell muscle relaxants and pain relievers!!! The first is a no brainer...more people painting toenails = more nail polish sales = happy nail polish industry, the second group may not be so obvious...but in order to paint your toenails you need to put yourself in positions that would make most yogis weep....well maybe I am exagerating, positions that would make most near sighted, 36 year old, overweight, flexability challenged yogi's weep and seize up...don't forget the seizing up bit....**sigh** Well, from what I can see of my toenails, they don't look too bad, I'm sure they must look sexy (can toenails look sexy???) It is really late (1:30am) and my sweetie is at work, and I am still not quite used to him being gone all night and I am kind of at loose ends, I guess I should go to bed now, but I am not really that tired...I could take 2 Melatonin again tonight...but I would like to wake up before 2pm since I promised James that I would help him to organize his bedroom . Good night :0)
