I just got a call from the Executive Chef at Bistro One (THE best restaurant in T.Bay!!) HE WANTS TO INTERVIEW ME!!!!!!!! TOMMORROW AT 3:30PM

Just getting the house ready as a bunch of people will be descending on it around 6pm this evening for my son's birthday. We are just serving cake (homemade), coffee and juice for the kids. Might go for a walk later.....

Went with Dad and James to Zellers so he could buy James a birthday gift as well as some clothes for school, a little stressful but not too bad. Came home, cleaned and organized my office/sewing area, threw a whole bunch of stuff out and vacumned. Did pell work and torso twisty things, soon we are going for dinner at Trystan and Venice's house. Also, finished embroidering my fighting tunic the other evening. :0)

Today, instead of working on my gauntlet, I deburred my helm and sewed my aventail back on. I sent an e-mail to Tess with regards to the article for the Tor. I also chose 5 Knights to whom I will send an e-mail.
Also went to Trystan and Venice's tonight and had a really nice visit, they also invited us over for supper tommorrow. (MMMM Food I don't have to cook!!!)

We had loaded up the car last night with donations for T-CAP (Thunder Bay Coalition Against Poverty), so we brought those there this morning, it sure gives us more room to move! I cleaned my armoring area last night and got my armor all sorted out and stored properly.
We dropped Paul off at work at 12:30pm or so and then stopped at Nanas....she had just finished making borsht (beet soup) mmmmmmmm! So we all had a big bowl and with full tummies, we are now home and I am doing some laundry and assorted household chores, and I am going to work on my gauntlet today as well.

MY HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENTS 08/21/04
#1 Daily: Hit pell at # 1,2 and 3 , 10x each with each hand. Use focus list
#2 Daily: Do 55 Matt Furey torso twisty things (until I recieve Combat Abs book, then do Mag.7)
#3 Due Sept. 11th weekend:
-gauntlet finished
-coat of plates (lower plates sewn in)
-fix helm (deburr grill and re-attach aventail)
-find elbow cop
#4 www.midrealm.org (order of chivalry, stall plates)
-pick 5 Knights with e-mail addresses
-send each an e-mail (okay rough draft with Soly first)
-ask if they have any advice or words of wisdom to share with me about throwing a shot with power
#5 Write an article for the Tor (our shire newsletter)
-not about fighting
-not about cooking
-a list of websites for newbies, simple garb for each basic time period, any culture I like
-a small bit of info with each time period (ie. "did you know that....., for instance.....)
-minimum of 5 sites

-ask Lady Christiana for her assitance (I DID THIS TODAY)

Well, I guess I should explain what I am in training for....My good Sister, has offered to train me in SCA heavy fighting. For those who have no clue what I am talking about, the SCA (or Society for Creative Anachronism www.sca.org) is a historical re-enactment group that plays in the times between 600AD and the late 1500's, mostly in the European cultures, Britain etc. but not exclusively. We practice a martial art like that of 2 Knights who have been un-horsed and must fight on foot, we use rattan (solid bamboo) weapons , and full protective armor. Honour and Chivalry are highly regarded in this sport. I have been playing at this off and on for 7 or so years, but have come to the realization lately that I am not getting any younger (I am 36) and I had better get serious and start striving for my goals now or they will never happen. And just what are my goals you ask?
Well, I have a few, not all of them are SCA related, but I think learning to achive any goal will help with all the others. So here they are.... my goals.
My Goals (these are not in any particular order)
To be a fighter who is considered good enough to be made a Knight of the SCA
To achive the top GPA in EVERY class that I attend at college in the next 2 years.
To have financial stablility and security (to be achived in the following steps)
-sit down with Paul and plan a budget which includes repaying our debts and putting money away in savings.
-following above budget without exception
To have a better relationship with James (to be achived in the following steps)
-spend more quality time with him (not in front of the TV) cooking, exercising, doing chores, reading with him for example.
-try to praise him for the good things he does, but to correct him in a productive way when he is doing something wrong
-by being more consistent in what I expect from him.
My Focus List (for fighting and life)
-move basket hilt in as staight a line as possible
-think about punching opponent's neighbour
-RELAX JAW
-breathing out (HOO! or some other sound) when I hit
-throw shot with knuckles up and arm almost straight
-REMEMBER, what I do is a powerful sport, Be aware of that power....where does it come from? Where does it go?
-Do Magnificent 7 exercises in Combat ABS book DAILY (when I recieve the book)
-BE RUTHLESS.....with myself and on the field
-I CHOOSE MY ATTITUDE!!!!
-Is what I am doing RIGHT NOW bringing me closer to one of my goals? If not, then WHY THE HELL NOT?
-NO THANK YOU, I WOULD RATHER BE THIN!!!
Just a quick note to prove that I am still among the living....
I have been training at my new job, and really loving it! Everybody is sooooo nice and I would work for the free chiropractic care alone....but don't tell them that! LOL!
I have been putting out resumes for a cooking job at all the fine dining establishments in town....the main bunch I will be delivering tommorrow. I also applied for some on campus jobs today. I am really excited and nervous about going back to school....wow! It's really happening! ****grinning from ear to ear****
Well, I should go to bed as I am cleaning the bar for my friend Kathy tommorrow at 6am....

Greetings all!
I had a rather informal interview today at the Natural Health and Healing Centre, and I am now it's newest receptionist!!! They had actually called me last week and asked me to submit a resume for the position (that is sooo cool! That has never happened to me before!) So I will be working every Sat. morning from 9am to 1pm and the occasional cover shift (depending on my school and other job schedules). The pay isn't bad, and it seems like a cool place to work! I do 4 hours of training this Thursday from 9:30am to 1:30pm. It is cold , rainy and miserable here....and has been all day :0( Time for a nice hot cup of tea!
